Parent Associations

At the British School of Chicago parents can be involved in a parent association, the School Consultative Group, or volunteer for a number of special interest committees.

School Consultative Group (SCG)
The SCG is an elected group of five parents combined with the school leadership team and staff representative.  It is the objective of the SCG to support the school in developing partnerships with parents, teachers, staff and the local and international community.  The SCG works in conjunction with the school, they provide long term vision and work on specific projects for growth and development.

Parent Volunteer Committees
Each year parents can choose to be involved in a wide range of special interest committees. Some of the committees will be involved in building relationships within the class or year group by planning social events and outings on an ongoing basis, while other committees work more alongside the leadership and administrative staff in the areas of operations, transportation and communication. Many parents choose to serve on more than one committee each year, bringing their personal and professional talents as a resource to benefit the British School community where needed. There are numerous interests the school explores in any year, and the parent volunteers are an instrumental group in aiding the realization of these ideas.
