I grew up in Saltash, a small town in Cornwall, in the far south west of England. I attended both primary and secondary school there before moving on to university in Bristol, where I received a Bachelor of Education degree specialising in Mathematics teaching. After university I took up a post at Torquay Boys' Grammar School, where I worked for six years, teaching Key Stage 3, in addition to GCSE and A-level. Aside from Mathematics I also taught Geography, IT and Computing to a variety of age groups. During my time there I had a number of different responsibilities aside from teaching, the most significant being in dealing with the university admissions process.
I left Torquay in the summer of 2000 and joined the British School of Washington, which was at the time in its third year of existence. In my six years there a great changed. I was involved in the development of the senior school working to develop a successful GCSE and IB programme. We had our first ever graduating class in the summer of 2005, which was a real milestone in the development of the school.
I am now in my fourth year at BSC. The school has accomplished a great deal in its first eight years. I am pleased to be a part of those achievements since I arrived, and I look forward to being involved in the achievements that are to follow.
