Adrienne Grimmell
Lab Technician
After completing my degrees in psychology and studio art from DePaul University, I continued my education at Indiana University where I received my teaching license in elementary education. Throughout my college years, I have also been an AmeriCorps volunteer. I was stationed in various elementary schools, located within my hometown community of Valparaiso, Indiana. I am especially thankful for my volunteering opportunities, because they provided me with insight to the teaching world beyond my years.
I am very fortunate because my interest in volunteering has led me all over the world. My most recent endeavor was to Lima, Peru, where I spent my time at a government run tutoring facility. The facility was designated for families with low incomes and, along with guiding the students on their studies, the faculty had to meet the students’ needs that were not met at home. The students were bathed, groomed, and fed as well. This experience was one of my most challenging, but it was one of my most rewarding.
I am excited to continue my adventure of education at The British School of Chicago. I am very intrigued as to what will come. It will be wonderful to meet all of the students and spend the year learning.
