Having spent a wonderful year here in Chicago teaching the year 2 Kind Koalas, I am looking forward to another great year with year 2, this time teaching The Smart Seals.

I qualified as a teacher at the Nottingham Trent University, where I completed a 4 year BA (hons) in Primary Education Specializing in Science and PE. During the course of my training I taught a range of KS1 and KS2 classes. Following qualification I moved to the Manchester area and took up my first teaching post at an inner-city school where I taught year 2 and year 3 classes. I also lead the integration of a new phonics programme and reading scheme across the school. One of my great passions is sport and I have run successful rounder's, netball, tag-rugby and tennis clubs. At my previous school I was responsible for coordinating over 20 extra curricular clubs across key stages 1 and 2.

Away from school I have thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle of Chicago by skiing and snowboarding my way through the winter and playing or watching summer sports as the weather gets warmer.

My preliminary teaching ethos is to create a caring, supportive learning environment, where children feel safe, secure and confident. It is so inspiring to be able to work with the enthusiastic, friendly children that attend The British School of Chicago and support them towards achieving their goals.
