Learning Assistant
I was born in California and have lived there my whole life up until my move to Chicago on August 1st. At the age of 12, I began as a volunteer for Walden West, an outdoor school in the Santa Cruz mountains, where the forest was our classroom and environmental science was our specialty. I worked at Walden West for 9 years being promoted from counselor to lifeguard to instructor. I look back on my time there very fondly and dedicate my love of teaching fully to my experiences as a staff member there.
I am a University of California: Los Angeles graduate with a B.A. in English. While at UCLA I held internships at the school newspaper, Public Relations and MGM movie studios. After college I joined the U.S. Army as a Cryptological Linguist. While many of my job duties are classified, I can say that I learned Mandarin at the Defense Language Institute and am now an avid fan of the language.
I am currently pursuing my J.D. at DePaul College of Law in the evening program and hope to become a federal prosecutor back in Los Angeles. I am a soccer player of 15 years, a lover of every sport from golf to football and an aspiring sketch artist. Most dear to my heart, though, is teaching. I am very much looking forward to being a part of the Magical Monkeys learning experience, the progress of my French classes and inspiring the students in my Chinese club.
