I was born in Dallas, Texas where I lived until I was 5 years old when I moved to Glasgow, Scotland. I studied English Literature at Glasgow University for my Masters degree. Then I studied at Strathclyde University and graduated with a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education specializing in primary education.
I am interested in a number of areas and I have played the clarinet for seven years and studied with a professional musician. I also attend dance classes and I have experience in highland dance, ballet, tap, jazz, street and modern dance. I also worked for a charity organization in the UK visiting High Schools for open evenings and seminars. I am also an avid reader.
I have been responsible for various after school activities such as netball, kidokinetics and eco-committee. All of my extra curricular activities have further developed my natural enthusiasm and commitment for teaching.
I have always wanted to be teacher and I have a genuine interest in how children learn. I am dedicated to meeting the individual needs of the pupils in my class and to ensuring that their learning is interesting, exciting and challenging. I love Chicago and living here is a dream come true as I have visited the city every summer since I was a child. I really enjoy teaching Reception as this is the age group I taught in the UK. I am pleased to be part of the Magical Monkeys class at the British School of Chicago and cannot wait to meet the new Magical Monkeys in the Fall.
