Teacher - Year 4Davis, E

Email Miss Davis

I have been a Key Stage 2 teacher for the past 9 years, working in Essex and also the London Borough of Havering. During this time, I have immersed myself in all aspects of school life, both in and out of the classroom, and am very much looking forward to bringing a dynamic enthusiasm and dedication to my new teaching role.

I was born and raised in Harold Wood, in the county of Essex, in the South East of England. I attended Reading University, where I completed a BA in English Literature and Sociology. After this, I was part of the inaugural intake at the Essex Primary Collegiate in Chigwell, Essex, where I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Whilst working in education, I have also completed a MA in Cultural and Media Studies with the Open University.

Since completing my teacher training, I have worked in a variety of year groups and I am looking forward to teaching in Year 4 in Chicago. My other responsibilities have included being P.E. and Liaison Coordinator, as well as being a member of the Senior Leadership team. Being a very sporty person myself, I have absolutely loved organizing the P.E. curriculum, training and running a number of sports clubs and teams, arranging District Sports competitions and managing and taking part in all manner of wonderfully exciting sporting initiatives. For my Liaison role, I have been in charge of training and mentoring student teachers, affiliated to Greenwich and Anglia Universities and helping them to learn and develop their own practice within the a primary school environment.

For me, being a good teacher is about preparing children for life, with an emphasis on all-round individual development and support, be it academic, personal or pastoral. I believe successful teaching is about getting involved in all facets of school life, which combine to ensure the well being and development of every child. The importance of cherishing the individualism of every child, and the development of a child’s entire personality, not merely academic ability, is, for me, what teaching is all about.
