I was born in Surrey, England, and lived in the UK until the age of 10. I then moved to Washington DC, USA where I went into the International Education system. After successfully acquiring my International Baccalaureate I returned to the UK to spend a year in Art School in London. I then moved to Wales to get my BA Hons in Fine Art and Education at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth where I also stayed to gain my teaching qualification.
I have taught in Newport, South Wales for 5 years, in Reception and then Year 1. I was Art Coordinator for 2 years, and successfully navigated my way through an inspection; getting high marks for my own teaching as well as in the subject area I led. I have been part of the team to initiate a new curriculum in Wales, and have had opportunities to share my good practice with other teachers. I am a creative person, both artistically and musically; I have had my illustrations published in books, and magazines and I can play the piano and guitar. I find these great assets as a teacher.
I aim to create a welcoming, positive and vibrant learning environment, where children are comfortable enough to take risks personally and academically: this helps ensure they are successful in all their endeavors.
