I was educated in both the UK and USA whilst growing up, and graduated from Worcester College with an honors degree in Music and Education. I studied the clarinet and piano up to Grade Eight, took part in musical competitions, rung in a hand bell team, and was a competitive swimmer and whitewater slalom canoeist.
I have teaching experience both in England and internationally. Whilst in England I taught a Year 1 class and had overall responsibility for Science. In Dubai I taught in a number of year groups including Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 and worked with a large team of teachers, developing my leadership skills. Since joining the British School of Chicago I have completed the International Leadership and Management Program (ILMP), using Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic learning as a focus for my in school study.
I am enjoying my present role here at the British School of Chicago as Primary Deputy Head for ages three to eleven, and am currently teaching Music to Years 1 and 2. I also continue in my role as Director of Music at the British Music School of Chicago (BMSC), working with tutors, parents and students at BMSC, to further develop their musical skills.
I have really enjoyed my seventh year here at the British School of Chicago, leading the Primary School and teaching Music to the younger students. The staff, parents, and pupils continue to make me feel very welcome here in Chicago and I look forward to another successful year leading my team of talented staff, encouraging children's love of music and celebrating the wonderful learning going on in each classroom.
