Teacher - Science/Chemistry
I started school in Hong Kong; however, home for me has always been rural Devon in the South West of England, where the major part of my education and formative years were spent. I studied at Exeter University where I attained my teacher training and before that my BSc Honours in Chemistry and Law.
Living and growing up in such a rural area of England, sport played a major part in my up bringing. Weekends and after school evenings were spent surfing, sailing, hiking on Dartmoor, as well as playing numerous team sports.
At Exeter I developed my love for Rowing. I both competed and coached for the University at several domestic and also international regattas, with Henley Royal Regatta being the real focal point. I have competed at Henley for a number of years, most notably reaching the final of the Britannia Challenge Cup in 2008.
I have a real love for conveying and developing knowledge and skills to others not just in sport, but also within the classroom. After gaining my PGCE I taught at Edgbarrow School, one of the best performing state-schools in Berkshire. Teaching at an outstanding school has really provided me with a passion for teaching and the skills and experience to stretch pupils to achieve their potential.
I really look forward to settling in well at the British School of Chicago and taking over the IGCSE and IB courses in Chemistry.
