I grew up in Hampshire, on the south coast of England. Many of my interests, such as swimming, sailing and walking have evolved from growing up close to the sea. My first taste of living abroad and experience of a different culture came when I spent a year in France. Following this, I attended university in Manchester, studying Environmental Studies with Languages. Having come from a family of teachers, who had always been so passionate and enthusiastic about their profession, it seemed very natural to become a teacher myself.
I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at university in Bristol, before teaching in two different schools in South Gloucestershire. During this time, I had the opportunity to teach within Key Stages One and Two and have taught a range of year groups from Year 2 to Year 6. I have also been responsible for developing teaching and learning in ICT across the school, undertaking projects on pod casting and video conferencing. I have particularly enjoyed being involved with the mentoring and moderating of teachers in training. I regard it as a privilege to be a part of the start of their journey towards becoming a qualified teacher.
I believe teaching to be one of the most rewarding professions and I strive to enable all children to realise their full potential, equipping them with the self confidence and social awareness to make the right choices now and in the future.
