Jason Randall - Piano Tutor

jason randallJason currently lives in Lisle and has been teaching Piano Lessons privately since 2005.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration on Piano Performance degree from Valparaiso University in 2003. He is the Music Director for St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lemont, Illinois.

As both a pianist and organist, he has performed with C. Christian Dederer, Lynn Bird, James Selle, Mark Sudeith, the Chicago Gargoyle Brass, and in concerts sponsored by the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, of which he is currently the Dean.

As a performer and teacher, he prefers to play and use a wide variety of music, mostly classical in nature. His listening preferences however, tend to vary greatly from the music of the Baroque period to that of the twentieth century genre.
Jason has had extensive experience working with adults and children of all ages and is very excited to start his fifth year of teaching at the BMSC musical faculty.

Olga Rikova Ridgeway - Piano Tutor

Olga Rikova Ridgeway

Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Olga Rikova Ridgway is a doctoral student studying with Alan Chow at Northwestern University.  She has been a prizewinner of the Music Teachers National competition (Illinois State Competition), the Ibla Grand Prize International Piano Competition, the Thaviu-Isaac Piano Competition, Union League Piano Competition and the Central Asian Piano Competition.

Olga received a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Tashkent State Conservatory and subsequently studied at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Belgium. Moving to Chicago in 2003, she received a full scholarship to study at Chicago College of Performing Arts at the studio of professor Ludmila Lazar and later completed a master of music degree from Roosevelt University

Alex Rohlwing - Piano Tutor

AlexrAt an early age, Alex was serious about playing music, beginning with piano, and leading to impassioned involvements in choir, theatre, and inevitably jazz. When the Des Moines native entered high school, music quickly became his career path.

In 2003, Alex was recruited by The School for Music Vocations in Creston, IA where he studied theory, ear-training, arranging, recording studio techniques, classical and jazz piano. In his first year, with the group VoicesIowa, he had the thrilling experience of singing at Carnegie Hall, and the pleasure of teaching and performing at the Netherlands Vocal Jazz Festival in 2004. Soon thereafter, Alex was given the opportunity to teach sessions at the Phil Mattson Vocal Jazz Camps, which attract talented students and teachers from all over the world.

He came to Chicago in the summer of 2005 and tested out of the reputably strict theory courses offered at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. There, he had the opportunity of studying with the great pianists Laurence Hobgood, Jo Ann Daugherty, and Jim Trompeter. In 2007, Alex left Roosevelt with a Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies with a focus in piano. Currently, in addition to performing regularly with various musical projects, he is teaching piano, voice, and theory lessons to students of all ages and continuing to expand his teaching studio.

Natalia Negru- Piano Tutor

A Romanian native, Natalia Negru started studying piano at the age of 7. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance at the West University of Timisoara, in Romania, where she studied with the renowned Romanian pianist Sorin Dogariu.  

In 2005 she started working for the Art High-School “Sabin Dragoi” of Arad where she taught piano in an intense music program, for students from 6 to 19 pursuing careers as musicians. Her students played many recitals and won prizes at national and international competitions.

The desire to further develop her musical career and experience new cultures of the world made her continue her studies in the United States. In 2008 she was granted a Graduate Assistantship at Eastern Illinois University and she started working on her Master’s Degree in piano performance, under the guidance of Dr. Susan Teicher.  

As a Concerto Competition Winner, in 2010 Natalia had the opportunity to perform the Schumann piano concerto accompanied by the EIU orchestra. Also in 2010, she was granted by EIU the Outstanding International Student Award.

Her teaching career also continued after moving to US, where for the two years spent at EIU she taught piano lessons for the Community Music Program, as well as private lessons.

Since May 2010 Natalia is an active musician in Chicago area, performing often in a duo ensemble with her husband who is a violinist and continues introducing other people to the wonderful world of music through her teaching career.
