College Counseling

Graduate

At British, we believe students should explore both their academic and extracurricular interests throughout their time in school. Preferences and varying skill developments evolve as the students are exposed to different subjects and enrichment activities. Students are able to thrive in our broad course selections, small discussion-based classes, and individualized instruction. Personal attention from faculty and staff allows our students to develop the educational knowledge and skills necessary to apply and transfer comfortably to a higher education community best suited to their needs and interests.

The Director of College Counseling begins to chronicle the students’ journey and preferences in Year 10 (grade 9) when they first meet to discuss the students’ academic course selections. Throughout Years 11 and 12 (grades 10 and 11) the Director will work together with students and their parents to discuss and develop a long term individualized plan for standardized testing and college admissions. Taking into consideration the students’ interests, skills, standardized test scores, and academic record, the Director will meet with families again either at the end of Year 12 (Grade 11) or beginning of Year 13 (grade 12) to discuss students’ college selections and the college application process.

The small class sizes, academic rigor and globally-minded curriculum prepare British School students for some of the best colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. The first graduating class in Chicago was in 2011, and the sister schools within the World Class Learning Group (our parent organization) have produced successful graduates for several years.
