The teachers and staff at British School of Chicago value the importance of being involved in the community and strive to foster this in their students. Students, staff, and families have the opportunity to take part in several events each year to help their communities.
Every year our students take part in the annual American Heart Association's 'Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart activities', as well as the virtual food drive for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The school also supports the 'Step-Up for Kids' event benefiting the Children’s Memorial Hospital, where teams of parents, staff, and students climb stairs in the Aon building.
Students have volunteered at the Dunnings-Reid conservation area to build trails, as well as having donated money to UNICEF for the relief efforts in Haiti. Additionally, students and their families have participated in a clothing drive for a local non-profit agency. Students and parents are encouraged to share their suggestions for various philanthropic work with the school, so we may have both a diverse and personable impact on the local and global community.
